The Wall
Anticipating the ride to the wall
This will be an experience for all
Winding roads, beautiful scenery
Streams surrounded by greenery
Suddenly concrete is all that we see
Traffic snarled, we are now in D.C
Atop every overpass that we ride under
Folks waving flags for Rolling Thunder
Thousands of Brothers all here for the cause
Bikes parade for hours without any pause
Grab a t-shirt, ribs, hot dogs, and a cold beer
Now, time to realize the reason we are here
A long sidewalk that has absorbed many a tear
Realization of so many loved ones worst fear
A gray haired Mother cries out for her lost son
Her little boy died in a war that nobody won
Thousands of names engraved in cold hard stone
Brothers, Sons, and Fathers who never came home
Veterans in uniform walk amongst the crowd
Damn, walk up and tell one he should be proud
Why did they die? Why did this all have to be?
For a gallant reason. So you and I could stay free
Take the time to make the trip to see that wall
Pay your respects to Brothers who died for us all
