Last Ride
Through the darkness of life astride his horse of steel
His life his own, no matter how it made others feel
The lone rider rolls on mile after unpredictable mile
His only goal is at the end of his ride to see her smile
Numbness overtakes his arms because of his only goal
The ache in his back and neck he has learned to control
The length of this ride in no way matters in his mind
At the end he knows, her unconditional love he will find
A vision of her long black hair and beautiful eyes of green
Ride on through the darkness on your thundering machine
The rain so cold can’t make you give up on arriving there
You will be together with the girl with the long black hair
No one has observed this rider in black as he continues on
No one cares if he finds the one of which he was so fond
Love will drive him to ride toward her for an eternity or so
Death didn’t stop him, he drew his last breath three years ago
