Tiny Hands

An innocent child crying and filled with fear

Covers his eyes to make problems disappear

Amid screams, his Mother’s eyes fill with tears

His only defense, tiny hands now cover his ears

Black and blue bruises on his tender young skin

Covering his head as he prays it won’t happen again

Trembling and whimpering until he drifts off to sleep

Why do everyday occurrences make little ones weep?

What kind of a world is it that doesn’t care about me?

He asks this question of a God that he really can’t see

I think about things that happen to little ones everyday

If I just finally closed my eyes, would it all go away?

Love, yes love is all that they want from me and you

Why don’t we all try to make their problems be few?

Take some time to show your love for a little ones’ sad face

Tiny hands over their eyes won’t set them free from this place
