Toward  Twilight

Life is enhanced by daybreak

The experience of seeing first light

With nothing wide of the mark

Everything seems so right

Drink in the beauty of the earth

Life’s scents, they smell so sweet

I have mounted my iron steed

Mighty thunder beneath the seat

In total control and in full command

Trails to be blazed and places to be

The roar of the pipes and hum of the wheels

Sounds of an orchestrated symphony

A feeling overcomes me at times that

this  powerful machine and I are one

Relying on her through every curve

in the road till the end of the run

We ride on through the heat of

the day into the hot afternoon

Time passing so rapidly, I fear

that our day will be over too soon

On through the desert we ride

Toward a picturesque sunset

Together we are making beautiful

Memories that I will not forget

We have traveled many miles and

She has to me always been true

Her loyalty is unsurpassed by

Not even one or two

Together we ride steadily on

Toward what seems to be twilight

At last we are totally engulfed

By the complete darkness of night
