Wake Up Baby

So many times when she was by my side

I’d whisper, wake up Baby, it’s time to ride

With her special smile and that cute little OK

Her reply; I really feel like a long ride today

Saddle bags packed and we were off again

Being with her fought off feelings of chagrin

To this day I am not sure about being in love

But she was that angel that was sent from above

No matter how long the ride she would never complain

Together we found sunshine even ridin’ in the rain

The day she dozed off and about fell off the side

I yelled “Damn, wake up Baby, it’s time to ride

I guess it’s true; all good things must come to an end

I swear, I never saw that cage come around the bend

Remembering very little except finding where she lay

The life in her body was needlessly taken that day

Holding her close and praying that this couldn’t be true

Baby, why wasn’t it me? Why did it have to be you?

The only good thing in my life is now gone I cried

Please, Damn, wake up Baby, It’s time to ride
